河川敷で焼死体が見つかり、那野県警捜査一課の管理官・察時美幸（安田顕）らが臨場する。そこに、ボンボン刑事・渡海雄馬（成田凌）の父で衆議院議員の渡海一成（德光和夫）が、秘書・藤枝ミホ（西田尚美）を伴って現場に現れた。遺体のそばに落ちていた名刺が一成の別の秘書のものだったため、察時が呼んでいたのだ。一成らには昨日、遺体の死亡推定時刻の間、後援会の人たちを招待して開いたパーティーに終始出席していたという、鉄壁のアリバイがあった。一方で察時は、話の途中に一成がつぶやいたひと言が解せないでいた・・・。さらにその日の夕方、藤枝がひとりで捜査一課を訪ねてくる。そして察時に、秘書を殺したのは一成かもしれないと告げる。
