大手自動車メーカー「トキワ自動車」の中堅サラリーマン・君嶋隼人。君嶋は出世レースの先頭に立ち幹部候補とまで言われていたが、上司が主導する企業買収に異を唱えた結果、左遷人事で府中工場に総務部長として赴任することに。意に染まない異動だが、これもサラリーマンの宿命。やるせない思いで赴任先の工場に赴いたところ、トキワ自動車ラグビーチーム「アストロズ」のゼネラルマネージャーを兼務するよう命じられる。かつては強豪チームだったアストロズだが、いまは成績不振にあえいでいた。こうして知識も経験もない君嶋にチーム再建という重荷が課せられた。低迷するラグビー部と出世の道を絶たれた君嶋の、再起をかけた戦いが始まる。
