アストロズに七尾（眞栄田郷敦）が加わった。スピードとテクニックを誇る七尾だが、絶対エース・浜畑（廣瀬俊朗）とポジションが被る。紅白戦では控え組が勝ったとはいえ、浜畑・里村（佳久創）のレギュラーコンビの壁は厚く、七尾と佐々（林家たま平）は練習でやり込められる日々が続いていた。そんな中、サイクロンズの津田監督（渡辺裕之）は秘密裏に浜畑に接触し…。一方、君嶋（大泉洋）はトキワ自動車研究所の星野（入江甚儀）の元を訪れていた。以前に星野から聞いたタンカー座礁事件とカザマ商事のオイルの関係が気になっていたのだ。星野がオイルと事故の因果関係を調査した森下教授（辻萬長）に改めて確認したところ、事故の原因とは関係ないとの結論が出たという。星野は取り越し苦労だったと謝るが、津田と浜畑の密会を見た者がいるとまたもや君嶋が仰天する情報を伝える。
